I  am the former CEO of Saffron Academy Trust, a MAT of 9 Good or Outstanding schools in North West Essex. The Trust is cross-phase. Prior to this role, I was Principal of Linton Village College in Cambridge for ten years. I started my working life teaching English in two disadvantaged schools close to Huntingdon. I chaired the national group Headteachers' Roundtable for 3 years, which was influential in helping the current Government to formulate education policy.

I retired from full-time work in August 2025 and now work part-time as a DfE RISE adviser in the East of England region. i also have a portfolio of voluntary work. I joined the PCLC trust board in September 2025.   I help to organise and run Oakley Holiday Parties for young people at Easter and in the Summer, I help to organise Linton Childrens' Book Festival, which runs every two years, and I am a member of the Comprehensive Futures group that campaigns for the end of the 11 Plus in England. I believe in inclusive state education of the highest quality.
